Kiln-dried timber, drying and treatment in Nanyuki

Buy raw kiln-dried timber or bring your own batch for careful drying. We work from Nanyuki, quote from the real species and thickness, and can arrange delivery when it is practical.

Raw timber or drying service

Two straightforward ways to work with us

We do not treat “kiln dried” as a vague label. The right schedule depends on the timber in front of us and what you plan to make from it.

Buy kiln-dried timber

Tell us the species, finished dimensions and quantity. We will confirm available stock and give a price for collection or an arranged delivery.

Book kiln drying

Bring your own timber for drying. We assess the species, thickness and starting condition before we agree the schedule and quote.

Timber treatment for the intended use

Our Nanyuki workshop has an in-house timber treatment facility alongside the kiln. Tell us where the timber will be used so treatment can be specified and quoted for that job.

Send the species, dimensions, quantity and whether the timber is for an interior fitting or an exposed location. Ask for the proposed treatment method, product and any handling or finishing requirements to be stated in the quotation.

Compare timber quotations on the same basis

A species name alone does not define an order. Make the dimensions, units and intended use clear before comparing prices.

Typical lead times

The timber sets the schedule

Drying too aggressively creates the problems the kiln is meant to prevent. These are useful guides for planning, but the actual batch is always assessed first.

Pine & cypress

About 2 weeks

Usually the shorter schedules, depending on thickness and starting moisture.

Hardwoods

3 weeks to a month

A slower schedule is normal, especially when the timber arrives green or is thicker.

Every batch

Quoted properly

Species, thickness, quantity and starting condition determine the final lead time and cost.

Careful drying

Not simply heat and hope

Timber is dried carefully to reduce moisture movement and lower the risk of warping, checking and cracks. Species, board thickness and how green a batch starts all affect how quickly it can be dried safely. A rushed schedule can damage the very timber it is meant to improve.

Questions

Before you book a batch

Can I buy raw kiln-dried timber from TimberStone?
Yes. We sell raw kiln-dried timber from our Nanyuki workshop, subject to the species, dimensions and quantity being available. Tell us what you need and we will confirm what can be supplied.
Can TimberStone dry timber that I already own?
Yes. We provide kiln drying as a service. The species, thickness and how green the timber is when it arrives determine the schedule, so we assess those details before confirming timing and cost.
How long does kiln drying take?
Pine and cypress commonly take about two weeks. Hardwoods commonly take about three weeks to a month. These are working guides, not fixed promises: thickness, species and starting moisture all matter.
Do you deliver kiln-dried timber?
Collection is from Nanyuki. Delivery can be arranged; share the destination and quantity so we can include the practical transport options in the quotation.
