Bent steel delivered to site, cut and bent to your bar bending schedule

Undertaking construction? We deliver bent steel to site exactly as the structural drawing and bar bending schedule call for it. You buy the steel by the kilogram, we cut and bend it, and a structural engineer is involved at every stage of the steel fixing so the steel is the right grade, in the right place.

Buy steel in kilograms, bent to the schedule. Engineer-checked from schedule to fixing.

How it works, from drawing to fixed steel

  1. 1. Start from the structural drawing

Send the structural drawings, or the bar bending schedule if one already exists. If you only have the drawings, we can work the schedule out from them. Every bar is listed by mark, diameter, shape, number off and cut length, so nothing is guessed on site.

  2. 2. Buy by the kilogram

Reinforcement is weighed, so you pay for the steel you actually need, not a round number of full-length bars with the offcuts left in the pile. The schedule gives the total weight by bar size, which is also what you compare quotations against.

  3. 3. Cut and bent to the schedule

Bars are cut and bent to the shapes on the schedule: stirrups and links, cranked bars, L-bars, U-bars and starter bars, with the hooks and laps the drawing specifies. Each bundle is tagged by bar mark so the steel fixers know where every piece goes.

  4. 4. Delivered to site

Bundles are delivered to your plot ready to fix. Because the bending is done before delivery, the site is not littered with offcuts, and the steel fixers spend their time fixing instead of measuring and bending.

  5. 5. Engineer-checked steel fixing

A structural engineer is involved at every stage of the steel fixing to make sure the steel is of the right quality and goes in as drawn. That covers bar size, spacing, laps, cover and connections before any concrete hides them. The engineer can also provide site supervision of the installation, so the structural integrity of the design is maintained all the way to the pour.

Why bending to a schedule matters

Concrete is strong in compression and weak when it is pulled. The steel inside carries that pull, and it only works where the engineer put it. A stirrup that is too big, a bar cut short of its lap length or a hook bent the wrong way does not show once the concrete is poured, but it changes how the structure behaves.

Bending to a schedule, in a controlled place rather than by hand on a muddy site, keeps dimensions consistent from the first bar to the last. It is also faster on site and wastes less steel.

Where we deliver

We are based in Nanyuki and deliver bent steel across Laikipia and the neighbouring counties: Nyeri, Meru, Isiolo, Nyandarua, Samburu, Embu and Kirinyaga. For a site elsewhere in Kenya, send the location and the bar schedule and we will confirm delivery.

Questions people ask about bent steel

What is bent steel?

Bent steel is reinforcement bar that has been cut and bent into the shapes a structural drawing calls for, such as stirrups, cranked bars and starter bars, before it reaches the site. It arrives ready to be positioned and tied, so the work on site is steel fixing rather than cutting and bending.

What is a bar bending schedule?

A bar bending schedule is a table that lists every reinforcement bar in a structure by mark, diameter, shape, number of bars and cut length. It is prepared from the structural drawings and is used to cut, bend, count and weigh the steel. The total weight by bar size is what the steel is bought against.

Can I buy bent steel by the kilogram in Kenya?

Yes. We supply bent steel by the kilogram, bent to your bar bending schedule. You pay for the steel the schedule needs, delivered to site, rather than guessing how many full bars to buy.

Do you deliver bent steel to my site?

We deliver across Laikipia and the neighbouring counties from our base in Nanyuki. For sites elsewhere in Kenya, send the location and the schedule and we will confirm whether and how we can deliver.

Who checks that the steel is right?

A structural engineer is involved at every stage of the steel fixing to ensure quality steel is used and that it is fixed as drawn. The engineer can also provide site supervision of the installation so structural integrity is maintained.

Can you prepare the bar bending schedule from my drawings?

Send the structural drawings and we will tell you what is needed. If a schedule already exists we work from it. If only the drawings exist, tell us and we will prepare the schedule before bending.

How do I get a quotation for bent steel?

Send the structural drawings or bar bending schedule, the delivery location and when you need the steel on site. Reply with the bar sizes and weights if you already have them. Steel prices move with the market, so the quotation is given for the schedule and the date. Current reference prices are on our construction prices page.

Undertaking construction?

Send the structural drawings or bar bending schedule and the delivery location. We will quote the steel by the kilogram, bent to the schedule.
